PCN donates food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Abuja.
The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) has donated food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Abuja.
The Corps which visited the IDPs camp in Durumi, presented different food items to the displaced persons, including bags of rice, groundnut oils and detergents.
Speaking during the visit, the National Commandant, Amb Dickson Akoh, stated that the visit was targeted at giving the displaced persons, mostly women and children, a sense of belonging, especially during the period of the Salah.
Akoh, who led a delegate to the settlement, stated that the visit was part of the event slated to celebrate the 17th Year Anniversary/Founder’s day of the PCN with the IDPs, reassuring the IDPs, who he said deserve proper attention, of his support in times of needs.
The Commandant also called on government, relevant organisations and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the displaced persons who have to leave their place of abode due to the insurgency.
Responding, Musa Buba, a representative of the IDPs, while receiving the gift items, commended Peace Corps for their kind gesture, lamenting that they have lost husbands, wives and children in the cause of the insurgence.
