Peace Corps of Nigeria commissions new Headquarters in Jabi

The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) yesterday commissioned a new National Headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the ceremony, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dr. Dickson Akoh, said moving into the new office complex at a time when the Bill for An Act to Establish Nigerian Peace Corps has been passed by both Chambers of the National Assembly and presently awaiting Presidential Assent is instructive and significant in many ways.He noted that having a new edifice in Abuja was done in anticipation of flurry of activities once the Bill is signed into law.

“The envisaged flurry of activities once this Bill is signed into law will definitely demand more and better equipped office accommodation for key departments,  divisions, unit and appropriate compliments of personnel necessary to cope with the volume of work and attendant pressure.

“It addresses our present acute accommodation problem at the former Headquarters both for offices and other ceremonial purposes,” Akoh said.

He also stressed that, the new office is equipped with the state of the arts facilities that would enable the Corps discharge its responsibilities.

Akoh also assured officers and men of the Corps in some states of the country who are faced with accommodation challenges, that the management of the PCN “is working in concert with trustees and stakeholders to alleviate the problems and secure befitting offices for the Corps in all our formations across the country.”
